PHILOSOPHY

As a photographer, I'm constantly learning and trying new things, and I want to continue to do that with you. I value genuine moments and emotions, and I believe more in creating something authentic than creating something that is technically correct.

MOMENTS
THROUGH MOVEMENT

Most people aren’t naturals in front of the camera. That’s okay—I’m definitely not. When I’m standing still for too long, I become super aware of my body. I forget how to stand like a real person, my hands become stiff claws, and I can’t remember how my mouth is supposed to feel when I’m smiling.

In the hopes of coaxing real laughs and snuggly moments out of you, I try to use movement as the foundation of my direction instead of focusing on specific poses. I might ask you to tell each other about your first impressions of each other or to plant kisses your favorite spots on each other’s faces. Sometimes I’ll even encourage a little rough-housing. My hope is that you’ll sink into your most natural and comfortable state with each other, where you can spend the session thinking about how much fun you have together instead of thinking about how I’m there pointing my camera at you. Our time together is as much about you having a good time with your partner as it is about getting the perfect photos.

Because I use movement to try capture you as you are, the photos that most accurately reflect your energy as a couple might not always be perfectly focused or fit traditional composition standards. I know your mom wants a few traditional smiling photos to frame on her mantle. Don’t worry—we’ll make sure to get those, too.
