You might be getting boudoir photos as a gift for a partner, but many of my clients find that boudoir is much more of a gift to themselves. Boudoir is about empowerment—shamelessly loving and accepting yourself and your body as it is. Even though you might be nervous or unsure about scheduling a boudoir shoot, my hope is that you’ll leave with a renewed sense of confidence and pride.
What should I wear? I don’t have any fancy lingerie.
Although it might be a fun excuse to get yourself a cute underwear set, you don’t have to wear fancy lingerie, and you certain don’t have to buy anything new. I advise my clients to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable and confident. For some, that’s classic pin-up lingerie, but for you, it could look like a tank top and boy shorts, your favorite robe, or even your long underwear (yes, one client did wear long underwear).
I definitely want to do a boudoir shoot, but can we schedule this for few months out so I can go to the gym first?
Do what makes you feel good, but I want to emphasize that you are perfect and ready as you are. Getting hair and makeup done can be a fun touch to make the day feel extra special, but ultimately, I want you to look like yourself in your photos—and be proud of that.
